Widely considered a symbol of good luck, shamrocks are often used as decorations for St. Patrick's Day. St. Patrick's Day is March 17, 2025 this year.
A couple of 2nd grade teachers had their classrooms collaborate in making shamrocks with the ELP students. Cutting, gluing, and creating some beautiful shamrocks resulted in a field of lucky shamrocks!
Family Consumer Science is an elective class students are able to take in 7th and 8th grade. In FCS students learn cooking skills, sewing skills, and have been involved in some community outreach events.
Ms. Hanks, the FCS teacher, could not be more proud of her students. In the past month, these students have sewn 6 quilts for Kids, 35 hearts for NICU babies in the hospital, and monsters. The monsters are a collaborative effort between the 1st grade class and the 8th grade students taking FCS. The 1st grade students design a "monster" and the 8th grade students help those monsters come to life in felt, googly eyes, and batting.
Once again, the older students are showing the Hellgate Hawks spirit in their FCS works.
Students in Kindergarten through 3rd grade participated in some exciting events the week of March 3-7, 2025 to celebrate Read Across America: Literacy Spirit Week. Every day had a different theme ranging from Hat Day to Dress to Impress Day. Friday was the most "comfortable" day that prompted students to wear their cozy pajamas and bring along a snuggly "friend" to school to read to during the day.
