    Name: Ms. Verdon

Hello and welcome to 7th and 8th Grade History! This year 8th graders will be studying American history from European exploration and settlement, through Reconstruction after the Civil War.  Included will be American Indian history and the effects the westward movement had on their culture and way of life.  The class will be creative in nature, with drawings, writing projects, and historical photo, painting, and political cartoon analysis.  By being both  creative and analytical, students will have a better understanding of our past, will have a greater connection to and understanding of their lives, and will be more likely to retain what they have learned.

7th graders will be spending part of the year studying Ancient history, and then the remainder of the year learning Montana history.  I am very excited to be teaching Montana history this year, and I know the kids will enjoy learning about this beautiful state as well.
