Hello Parents & Guardians!Welcome to Mr.Grey's P.E. Class!Name: Dan Grey

I hope everyone has had a healthy and fun summer! I can't believe the 2020-2021 school year is here!
This year, I will be teaching P.E. in bldg. 2 (K-1st) and Practical Arts to our 5th- 6th grade students in bldg.3. I am so very excited for this opportunity to meet new students and to teach past students in a different subject! It will be a super fun year!
Our P.E. curriculum is based on the Montana Health Enhancement Standards and a nationally credited program called "Catch", (Coordinated Approach to Child Health). This program allows us to integrate physical health and nutrition lessons in each classroom. Your child will learn about good nutrition and participate in high level activities that will help them lead a healthy lifestyle. In addition, during P.E. classes, your kids will learn the very basic movements for many sporting events that our community enjoys watching and practicing in Missoula. I will challenge your child/children to develop and maintain their fitness.
In Practical Arts, we will be learning about basic tools, constructing with different materials while empowering our student’s creativity. Hammering nails, using hand and power saws for cutting, and creating simple projects with mostley pine wood. We will also research the many different trades to get a better understanding of the world we live in, including guest speakers from time to time. Please feel free to set up a time to come see our gym in Bldg. # 2 or Practical Arts room in Bldg. 3 to meet me.
Depending on which stage our state is in, due to the Covid 19 virus, I will adapt both classes to the regulations aproved by Dr.Reisig and our school board. Our K -1st grade P.E. classes will be all hands off activities wtith no maniplatives. We will work on Aerobic and Cardio events with indivisual stations.
The Pratical Arts class for 5th and 6th grades will be given their own tools to work with. The classroom is huge and will allow plenty of space for our students to maintain the 6 foot distance requierment if needed.
I pray that you all are safe and healthy.
Let’s have a great year!
