Welcome!

This is my fourth year as the Director of Special Services at Hellgate. Prior to this role, I worked as a special education teacher at Hellgate Middle School for five years. Throughout my career, I have been committed to ensuring that every student has the opportunity to succeed, regardless of their strengths or challenges. It has been my personal goal to help all students reach their full potential, and I continue to strive toward that vision across our district-wide special education programs.

I am honored to have been named the 2025 Outstanding Administrator of Special Education by the Montana Council of Administrators of Special Education. This recognition reflects the collective effort of our incredible staff, students, and families who work together each day to build an inclusive, supportive, and successful learning community.

Current Special Education Programs

Our special education program is designed to provide a nurturing and inclusive environment for students with disabilities. We believe every student deserves access to high-quality education and individualized support.

Our dedicated team of teachers and support staff collaborate with families and general education teachers to develop personalized education plans tailored to each student’s strengths, needs, and goals. In addition to academic support, we emphasize fostering independence, self-advocacy, and social inclusion so students gain confidence and skills for both school and life.

  • Life Skills Program (3–8): Designed for students who may need a replacement curriculum and individualized instruction in functional skills. Students receive small-group or 1:1 instruction from a certified special education teacher and paraprofessionals, with inclusion in general education settings as appropriate based on IEP goals.

  • Resource Room (K–8): Provides specialized instruction in targeted academic areas, as identified by the IEP team, while ensuring students remain connected to the general education curriculum.

Our program is committed to creating an inclusive and equitable educational experience for all students by celebrating diversity, honoring individual strengths, and fostering a true sense of belonging.
