School Nurse

Nurse Kristen Matson

Hello my name is Kristen Matson. I am taking over the position as school nurse on February 1, 2025!

I am very excited for this opportunity to serve the Hellgate Elementary School District. I have
been a nurse for 15 years. I have previously worked with a very diverse group of
hospice, home health and palliative care patients. Transitioning to school nursing has
always been a goal of mine, and I love working with kids! I believe that our kiddos need
a healthy mind and body in order to thrive in the school setting. My goals are to ensure
that our kids at Hellgate Elementary School District are healthy and thriving, managing
any chronic illnesses/disease processes, and giving our kids the foundation they need
to succeed.

My husband and I moved to Missoula in 2013 to start and grow our family. I am a
mother of three kids at Hellgate Elementary: 6 th grader, 4 th grader, and 1 st grader. I love
the sense of community that Hellgate has provided my family through the years of
instruction they’ve received here. After school hours I am a soccer mom, and spend
time working with our youth group at church. I enjoy listening to audio books, playing
with our zoo (puppy, two kittens and a queen cat), cross country skiing in the winter, and
hiking in the summer.
