    Hellgate Homework Policy

Homework is a constructive tool in the teaching/learning process when geared to the needs and abilities of students.  Purposeful assignments not only enhance student achievement, but also develop self-discipline and associated good working habits.  As an extension of the classroom, homework must be planned and organized, must be viewed as purposeful to the students, and should be evaluated and returned to students in a timely manner.

Teachers may give homework to students to aid the students' educational development.  Homework should be an application or an adaptation of a classroom experience, and should not be assigned for disciplinary purposes.

    Homework in Mr. Hamilton's Class

Students will not be assigned homework in any of Mr. Hamilton's classes.  Students will receive plenty of time to complete any assignments given during class time.  However, there may be times in which a student is absent on a day that a graded assignment was completed during class.  Those students will be responsible for inquiring about and for completing any missed assignments upon return to school.

Late Work:  Mr. Hamilton will accept late work for up to 10 (ten) days from the original assignment date.  For every day an assignment is late, 10% will be deducted from the score awarded.  For example, if you turn in a 100 point assignment 3 days late, the best score possible would be a 70%.

Missed Assignments:  Please see the Make-Up Work/Absences webpage for more information on missed assignments.
