• The fifth grade students are evaluated on the A, B, C, D, F grading system. The following explains what each grade represents:

    89-88%.....................B+

    87-83%.....................B

    79-78%.....................C+

    77-73%.....................C

    72-70%.....................C-

    69-68%.....................D+

    67-63%.....................D

    62-60%.....................D-

*Occasionally, I will allow students to take home graded assignments for a correct and return opportunity. I will average the original score with the corrected score to get the grade to be recorded in the gradebook.

  • Standards Based Grading

Students grades will be based on their understanding of specific concepts. Instead of receiving a letter grade, students receive grades in multiple different learning targets and can see which concepts they understood well and which they need to improve on. Below is the scale that will be used to show student understanding of concepts.

    4

    Exceeds Grade Level Standard

You demonstrate understanding beyond the standard consistently and independently.

    3

    Meets Grade Level Standard

You demonstrate understanding of grade level standards consistently and independently.

    2

Partially or Progressing with Grade Level Standard

You demonstrate partial understanding of grade level standards with or without support.

    1

Does Not Meet Grade Level Standard

You demonstrate minimal (or no) understanding of grade level standards and does not meet grade level standards even with support.
